The role

Ticketmaster is searching for a highly skilled, senior front end engineer to help build products for high-demand onsales. As an engineer within the Marketplace technology organization, you will be responsible for developing APIs and services that help fans get access to the artists and teams they love. You will be working with a team of Java and Javascript developers to implement event-driven data flows using cloud services, modern infrastructure, and automated DevOps pipelines. Our team is responsible for managing the SmartQueue product that gates access to the purchase flow when demand is at its highest. Not only do we handle the mechanics of queueing and friction, but we also set expectations for fans as they wait and try to deliver a transparent, engaging experience throughout.

Ticketmaster welcomes and encourages applications from those in communities historically underrepresented in the technology field.

What The Job Is
  • Facilitating performant and robust user interactions at scale
  • Coming up with creative solutions that improve the fan experience and provide the business with critical insight
  • Contributing to front end architectural decisions that leverage the latest frontend technologies
  • Working with a team of passionate engineers, committed to Agile development
  • Participating in code reviews, pair programming, helping your peers, and knowing when to ask for help

Our job descriptions evolve with our business need and priorities. In addition to the description above, your role may include additional projects and team support as needed.

What a Qualified Candidate Should Possess
  • 5+ years professional software engineering experience
  • 3+ years experience working with frontend Javascript using React.js (especially with Next.js, Styled Components, and Redux or Reflux)
  • 2+ years experience developing with NodeJS, using ES7+, npm, and frameworks such as Express or Koa
  • Basic familiarity and experience with Java and Maven
  • Experience working with service-oriented architectures and microservices
  • Comfort with behavior-driven development and automation testing with Cucumber/Gherkin
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Commitment to readable code and functional programming
  • Strong grasp of data structures and algorithm design
  • Experience building high-traffic products – tasks that are easy at low scale can be incredibly challenging at Ticketmaster's scale so performance tuning and fault-tolerant architecture design are necessary
  • Strong communication skills and ability to be a supportive team member
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and apply them in novel ways
